Welcome to the Phil Lines Coaching Academy

The Phil Lines Coaching Academy started in 1989 and owes its success to the underlying approach of making football training fun.

The Academy offers coaching for players of all ages, team training and goalkeeping courses. All participants in the Academy are able to develop their football skills in a happy and secure environment.

We also offer Children’s Football Birthday Parties, either at Carduss School or at your home. Contact us for details or to enrol your child(ren) on any of our courses.

About Phil Lines

Phil Lines began his football career in the late 1960’s when, in his early teens, he spent two seasons with Coventry City, training and playing friendly matches. He then played local football for his dad’s team, Banbury Town and from there, moved to Chipping Norton Town for a season before joining the team he supported as a boy, Banbury United, where he went on to play over 350 games. Phil also played Southern League Football for Leamington and Rugby Town.

At the age of 29, Phil went in to football management with Banbury United Youth Team in the the early 1980s. BUYT went on to win the Oxfordshire Youth Championship in 1983. The following season, he took over the reins with local Sunday side The Angel, finishing the season as Champions. In the mid-1980s, he became manager of Banbury United. Although the Club was struggling financially, United won the Oxfordshire Senior Cup in 1988/89, finishing 8th from top. From United, he Joined Brackley Town and then, in 1990, Buckingham Town who went on to win the Southern League South Division Championship. Phil also served a short spell at Worcester City, returning after a short break to Brackley Town which went on to win the Hellenic League in 1997 and the Southern League Midland Division in the 2007/8 season.

After a two-year rest from management, Phil took over at Easington Sports for a two-year spell and is now the Club’s Chairman.
